Ketu South Municipality confirms President’s MCE nominee

 Mr Nicholas Kor­bla Worklachie, President John Dramani Maha­ma’s nominee for Municipal Chief Executive of the Ketu South Municipality in the Volta Region, was on Friday confirmed by members of the assembly.

Fotry out of the 57 members vot­ed in support of the nominee, while 16 voted against with 1 rejected bal­lot representing 71 per cent of the two-thirds affirmations as required by the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) Section 243 (1) cast to officially confirm the nominee as the MCE for the area.

The less than 40 minutes pro­cess attracted dignitaries, including the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, the Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Con­gress (NDC), Egypt Kudoto, the constituency Chairman, Solomon Kumordzie, traditional authorities, security agencies, and some newly confirmed Municipal and District Chief Executives of Anlo, Keta, Akatsi and North and South Tongu.

Mr Gunu in his address prior to the confirmation process urged the assembly members to give the nominee the 100 per cent approval as witnessed in other assemblies to enable him start work in earnest.

He said so far 16 MMDC’ s have been confirmed, Ketu South and South Tongu were the only munic­ipalities left and prayed that both ends well as expected.

Mr Worklachie in his acceptance speech expressed his gratitude to the almighty God for the guidance and the President for the confidence reposed in him and the assembly members for their support.

He assured of a collabora­tive,transparent and open adminis­tration to promote the government’s resetting agenda, “one of my main priorities would be to pluck all loop holes in revenue generation, Pro­mote business activities aimed at fast tracking government’s 24- Hour economy agenda which could help generate more revenue for the total development and transformation of the municipality.

He pledged to focus on sustain­able-job creation opportunities and urged the people to support him execute his vision in areas of health, infrastructural developments, educa­tion and security which are the hall marks of good governance.

The assembly had earlier on sworn in 18 government appointees as members of the assembly while Mr Nyavi Richard Seyram was also elected as the Presiding member of the assembly
