Labone Church of Christ Organises Maiden Homecoming Programme
The Labone Church of Christ, located in the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, will host its maiden homecoming programme on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Labone, a suburb of Accra.
The programme aims to provide an opportunity for members who have relocated from the community due to transfers or accommodation challenges to return and fellowship with the church. It will also welcome members who have travelled abroad, allowing them to reconnect with their mother church.
Dubbed “Together We Can Build” and themed “Roofing of a Three-Storey Building”, the event will serve as a fundraising initiative to support the roofing of the church’s three-storey building, a project that began about a decade ago.
Among the invited personalities are Mr. Harrison Tete-Donkoh, former Director of the Department of Social Welfare, who will serve as the guest speaker, and Evangelist Nathaniel Adams, Preacher of the Ashaiman Accra Road Church of Christ.
Speaking to The Ghanaian Times ahead of the programme, Evangelist Peter Amponsah, preacher of the Labone Church of Christ, stated that the primary goal of the event is to raise funds to complete the three-storey church building currently under construction. He revealed that the church aims to raise GH¢350,000 to help roof the building.
Evangelist Amponsah further explained that the homecoming programme was organised to reunite members who had relocated due to transfers and accommodation issues. He noted that the central idea of the programme is drawn from the New Testament book of Acts 4:24, which emphasises unity: “They all joined together and were of one heart and one mind.”
He added that with unity and a common purpose, the church would be able to raise sufficient funds to complete the building project. Evangelist Amponsah appealed to members, both home and abroad, to return to their roots and support the church in promoting its growth.
Some former members of the Labone Church of Christ, in separate interviews, commended the church leadership for initiating the homecoming fundraising programme.
“I am filled with joy and great excitement as we prepare to return to our old church for the homecoming ceremony. It is a beautiful moment to reunite with our spiritual family, remember where God brought us from, and celebrate His faithfulness together. I can’t wait to worship, fellowship, and rejoice with everyone once again,” said Evangelist Kofi Larbi.
Another former member, Vida Agyeiwaa, also expressed her excitement, stating, “After more than ten years, I am happy to be going back to fellowship with my old church.”
