Man remanded for alleged murder at Logre
District Magistrate Court in Bolgatanga has remanded Ndong Bogrebon, 31, in police custody for two weeks, for allegedly murdering a man at Logre in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
Bogrebon allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on Bugbil Yen, after an altercation ensued between the two at a final funeral rites at the Palace of the Chief Logre.
Prosecuting, Inspector Baliki Issaka, told the court that the police at Nangodi received a distress call from Naba Michael Yondan-Tobig II, Divisional Chief of Logre, indicating that Yen (deceased) had been killed by Bogrebon.
The court, presided over by Mr Mawukoeya Nutekper, heard that the police arrested Bogrebon at Logre, and a caution statement was taken from him (accused) at the Nangodi police station.
Insp Issaka said accused and Yen, who attended a funeral, had misunderstanding, and the suspect inflicted cutlass wounds on Yen’s body, leading to his death.
Prosecution also narrated that Yen was rushed to Optima Hospital at Zuarungu, where he was pronounced dead.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital morgue for preservation while awaiting autopsy.
Bogrebon will re-appear before court on May 12, this year.
