New App to promote online education for students launched
A new application to promote online education for primary, junior and secondary school students in the country has been launched in Accra.
Dubbed uLesson, the education application is meant to assist students and pupils to learn on their own and get deeper and better explanation of subjects they were taught at school but did not understand.
Developed by uLesson Education Limited, the application can be downloaded on the internet.
Speaking at the launch in Accra yesterday, the Sales Manager,uLessons Education Limited, in charge of West Africa, Oladayo Popoola, said the development of the application was meant to give access to education to children in Africa.
He explained that the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its associated lockdowns and restriction in the movement of people necessitated the need for the application to help children and students to study in the comfort of their homes.
MrPopoola further said the introduction of the double-track system in the country created the need for the application for the children to study at home while not in school.
“The uLesson is developed with the idea to help children in Africa to learn in the most convenient way,” MrPopoola, said.
He said the lessons had been developed for those in class four to Senior High School and included subjects such as Mathematics, English, Physics, and Chemistry.
The Sales Manager said the features on the application included pre-recorded libraries, live lessons/classes, question and answer sessions and a section for solved past questions.
Mr Popoola said the application had been developed to help parents track the visit and studies of their wards on the platform, adding that there were live sessions where students on the platform from all over Africa could interact and share ideas, and solve questions.
The sales manager said users of the application could go over the lessons many times they wanted to help them get understanding of the topics taught.
“The application is extremely useful for students, very engaging and a fun way to learn from the comfort of your location,” he said.
Mr Popoola said his outfit would soon set up Learning Centres in the country to help students in underprivileged communities to have access to the application.
The Chief Executive Officer of Point Blank Media Concepts, Theophilus Akatugba, said the platform would save parents huge monies they spent on extra classes for their wards.
He saidthe application was meant to revolutionalise education, saying it served as a “revolutionary way of learning.”
Mr Akatugba said the lessons on the application were self-explanatory and could be easily understood.
He commended uLessons Education Limited for introducing the application in Ghana to help promote education in the country.
