SIC Life seeks partnership with NTC to grow economy

SIC Life Insurance Limited, a state-owned life insurance company, has stressed the need for state-owned enterprises to collaborate and work together to enhance their financial performances and operational growth.

According to the company, the financial performance of most state-owned enterprises, as contained in recent reports of the annual report of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), has not been encouraging.

To this end, the company has pledged its readiness to collaborate and work together with the New Times Corporation (NTC), publishers of The Ghanaian Times and The Spectator.

A delegation from the company, led by the Head, Corporate/Group Business, Mr David Jockie Ankrah, made the pledge when they paid a courtesy call on the management of the NTC at a meeting in Accra yesterday. He was accompanied by Ms Doreen Asante, HR and Administrative Manager; Mr Ebenezer Odaryey Lamptey, Group Business Sales Manager; and Mr Oppong Kofi Brako, Human Resource Manager.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the collaboration between the two entities for mutual benefits through collaborative sales.

“Sometimes when you listen to the radio, you hear journalists say that all the state-owned enterprises are not doing well, and who is responsible for them not doing well? It is we the state organisations that are responsible for us not doing well because we don’t work with ourselves,” Mr Ankrah said.

Mr Ankrah noted that through collaboration, SIC Life Limited intended to provide NTC with financial and operational assistance, including the purchase of a printing machine and enrolment of staff of NTC on insurance policies of the company.

He further acknowledged the bureaucracy that was often associated with access to insurance benefits by customers. According to him, the company was developing digital and innovative ways to address such bureaucracies.

Mr Ankrah said that his outfit would submit a proposal on collaboration and a Non-Disclosure Agreement document to be signed between the two entities to the NTC.

For his part, the Editor of The Ghanaian Times, Alhaji Salifu Abdul-Rahaman, expressed gratitude to SIC Life Limited for its decision to collaborate with the NTC in enhancing the financial and operational performance of the two entities. He said that the state media organisation was ready to promote the activities of SIC Life Limited through media coverage and advertisements.

Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman further underscored the need for the two entities to institute a joint dialogue series on various topics on insurance policies. He indicated that such dialogue series would help educate the citizenry on insurance policies and the need for them to be enrolled on such policies.

Present at the meeting were the Chairperson of the Interim Management Committee, Mr Kwesi Kersie; the Deputy Chairperson, Mrs Charity Binka; Supervisor, Adverts, Sales, and Business Relations, Mrs Edzodzi Can-Tamakloe; the Acting Chief Accountant, Mr Eric Nkum Antwi; the Technical Service Manager, Mr John Lawson; the Human Resource and Administrative Manager, Mrs Agnes Nketia; and the Acting Internal Auditor, Ismaila Attaul-Lah.
