We’ll face criminals squarely—DCOP Atibilla
The Bono East Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Moses Atibilla, has promised to face criminals in the region squarely, with a call on the public to support the fight.
DCOP Atibilla made the call on Monday at Techiman, when he engaged pressmen in the region, to share his mission and vision of combating crime in the area.
According to him, he had informed his commanders and Key Officers in the region that, the service was changing the operational strategies to deal with criminals ruthlessly, to make the region a safe haven for economic activities.
“Together with my friends from the media, we will reduce crime incidence drastically, if not to eliminate it. Kintampo to Buipe, Techiman to Prang, through Atebubu and Kajaji highways will be given a special attention,” he told pressmen.
DCOP Atibilla said kidnapping had gone done in the region saying that robbery cases would be dealt with, to make the region a conducive place for investment and tourism.
The Regional Commander appealed to residents of the region, to give information to the police in order to fight crime saying that “the information must be reliable, accurate and strong.”
DCOP Atibilla further encouraged the general public, to furnish the service with tip-offs and other relevant information of suspected criminal activities in the communities.
He also charged the media in the region, to intensify their education on crime related issues, on daily basis to make the public security sensitive, adding that crime combating was a shared responsibility.
DCOP Atibilla, in a related development, told pressmen that out of the eight persons arrested on August 27, this year,six had been granted bail while the two were put before Techiman Circuit court.
Mrs Frimpomaa Korankye, on behalf of the journalists, commended the efforts of DCOP Atibilla and his officers to reduce crime rate in the region saying that “we will support you to succeed.”
Mrs Korankye promised to intensify public education on security in the media space, and appealed to the Regional Commander and his officers, to protect civilians who provided information to them.
