Women entrepreneurs in Ada receive GH¢ 3 million support
Electrochem Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the McDan Group has provided an interest-free loan of GH¢3 million to support women entrepreneurs in Ada and its environs.
In all, over 1000 women would immediately receive the funds which formed part of the company’s Community Support Scheme established to empower entrepreneurs in the various communities in Ada where the company operates.
It was also to ensure that women were gainfully employed to foster socio-economic development in the country.
Presenting the loan facility to the women, Project Consultant for the company, Dzigbordi Dosoo, said the move was necessary since people within the communities in Ada lacked financial support to grow their businesses.
“We at Electrochem believe that we must grow along with people within the communities by ensuring that entrepreneurs become more productive,” she stated.
“We thought our first point in our social responsibility activities was first to take the women and give them loans to support them in their trade,” she stated.
She said the current beneficiaries represent the first batch as others would receive such loans subsequently.
The women she said, would undergo training on the skills needed to become entrepreneurs to ensure they utilised the monies for the right purposes.
Ms Dosoo added that, after the skills and financial empowerment training, Electrochem team would consistently monitor the business performance of the beneficiaries to give them continuous support until their businesses were fully established.
A queen mother of Ada who spearheaded the initiative, Naana Adiki Manyeyo Adi I, expressed appreciation to Electrochem for the support.
She appealed to the women not to default in servicing their loans.
“This is just the beginning as a next batch would soon receive their loans,” she stressed.
