Smiling Heart Foundation advisory board inaugurated
The advisory board of Smiling Heart Foundation (SHF), a non-governmental organisation has been inaugurated in Accra.
Chaired by Member of Parliament for Krachi East Constituency, Michael Yaw Gyato, the board would see to the running of the foundation and ensure they deliver on the mandate of providing assistance to the needy and less privileged in society.
The rest of the members are Francisca Amoako, Mrs Benedicta Awusi Atiku, Patrick Apoya and Anthony Addae Gyato, Rev. Joseph Kumah Badu, Emmanuel Nsiah, Awudu Yakubu Omoro and Bawa Dogo Huzumat.
Chairperson for the occasion, Deputy Minister for Communication, George Andah said it was important for such organisations to help assist the needy in society, adding that “We need to learn how to give to the less privileged in our communities and urge SHF to get more people involved in assisting the needy in society.”
Mr Andah who administered the oath of office and secrecy asked the board to remain committed and ensure they lived up to expectations.
Father Andrew Campbell, a special guest for the occasion, added that the needy, poor and disadvantaged in society must be helped, pointing out that, “The happiest people in the world are the people who give and we must be associated with the poor to assist them and ensure we build a strong society.”
He urged the foundation to spread across and be used as instruments to bring smiles on the faces of people across Ghana and the world at large.
Founder and Convener of the foundation, Mr Gyato said, their aim was to compliment government’s effort to assist the disabled and disadvantaged in society.
“We started eight years ago but halted due to some challenges but the inauguration of the advisory board is a huge boost to our operations as we hope to take off and support communities within the Oti Region and its environs,” he stated.
He called on corporate entities and individuals to come on board to support the foundation in providing support to the less privileged in society.
