Tema Lube Oil Company builds police post
Tema Lube Oil Company (TLOC) the premiere lubricant blending firm, on Tuesday built a police post worth GH¢200,000.00 at the heavy industrial area in Tema.
Yesterday, the company handed over the post to the Tema Regional Police Command during an inaugural ceremony here.
Known as the Lube Oil Police Post, the board chairman of TLOC, Mr Kow Abekah Quansah, expressed the hope that the facility would go a long way to support the work of the police in maintaining law and order in the metropolis.
He said the company in line with its corporate social responsibility had over the years supported institutions in the areas of health, education, security and sanitation.
These, he said included the donation of ambulances to the Tema General Hospital, Tema Polyclinic, surgical and life support equipment to Tema General Hospital and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, books to the Tema Community Library and a patrol vehicle with mobile phones to the Tema Regional Police Command.
Mr Quansah noted that the gestures were in response to an appeal made by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
He urged Ghanaians to patronise the company’s lubricants and steel drums to enable it do more for community development.
The Managing Director of TLOC, Mr Amos Donkor, said the company was committed to carrying out its operations in an environmentally friendly manner and would continue to undertake projects to make life better for its community members.
The Tema Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Akrofi Oyirifi Edward Johnson, thanked the management of TLOC for the gesture and said it would serve as a morale booster for personnel to work hard to reduce the crime rate in the metropolis.
DCOP Akrofi said Tema is a fast growing metropolis with industries and lots of commercial activities springing up, therefore the influx of visitors will increase criminal activities which pose security threats.
He said the police administration was determined to build the capacity of personnel and resource them to meet the security challenges of the metropolis.
DCOP Akrofi therefore appealed to other corporate bodies to emulate TLOC’s example.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, thanked the TLOC for the support and appealed to other corporate bodies to partner the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to improve security in the area.
Mr Mensah called on them to support the assembly rehabilitate some public basic schools in Tema.
