
Five persons have been burnt to death and 23 suffered injuries, in a ghastly accident near Bono Manso on the Techiman- Kintampo highway, in the Bono East Region, on Friday.
According to an eyewitness account, the accident occurred at about 11 pm, when the driver of a grand bird bus attempted to overtake another vehicle.

The driver of bus crashed into an approaching trailer, resulting in explosion (into balls of fire) that engulfed both vehicles, “consuming the two cars, including the passengers.”
The eyewitness said a Kia grand bird bus with registration number AK285-22 moving the opposite direction, conveying unspecified number of passengers on board, collided with a trailer with registration number AS 47 66 loaded with cans and bottles of Malta Guinness products, moving from Accra, heading towards the northern region.
The Techiman Municipal Fire Commander, DOIII Henry Eshun, confirmed the incident to journalists.
According to DOIII Eshun, five persons were burnt to death while 23 others sustained multiple injuries.
Eleven of the injured, he said were taken to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital whilst 12 others were taken to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.
The Fire Commander said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause of the accident.
