Absa Bank donates to Okuapeman SHS visually-impaired students

Absa Bank Ghana’s Finance and Legal team have donated braille laptops to the visually-impaired students of Okuapeman Senior High School to enhance their technological skills.

This initiative is part of the bank’s ongoing ‘Citizenship and Colleague Volunteerism’ efforts.

The donation aims to equip the young students with tools to succeed in a technology-driven world.

Speaking at the event, the Headmaster of the school, Rev. Richard Koranteng Afari, revealed that the institution currently had an enrolment of 3,500 students, including 49 visually impaired learners.

He expressed gratitude for Absa Bank’s continued support, adding that, “We are striving to teach visually impaired students to use technology at this age, and so I want to commend the Finance and Legal team of Absa Bank for their support over the past three years.

He also highlighted that the school admits 20 visually impaired students annually and shared their aspiration to expand infrastructure and technology to accommodate up to 60 students in the future.

Representing Absa Bank at the event were Mkushi Munatsi, Executive Director of Finance; Priscilla Yeboah, Head of Citizenship; Richard Boadi, Head of Financial Decision Support; and other members from the finance and legal teams.

Addressing the students, Mkushi Munatsi said, “I want to encourage you to strive for good things in life, no matter your circumstances. Life can always be better. This is not the last time we will visit you. We look forward to seeing the foundations we build together.”
