Adamus Resources, the latest partner of the annual Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards has indicated a desire to sustain the support for the yearly event.
“As a company, we are delighted to partner with SWAG on this prestigious awards ceremony to keep faith with our corporate vision.”
Ms Angela List, the Managing Director of the mining company gave the assurance at the recently held 47th edition of the awards, where over 40 awards were handed to sportsmen and women and administrators.
She said as a mining company, Adamus would continue to support community empowerment projects in areas of sports and education.
“We strongly support the statement that the greatest award is the appreciation of the people and there is no better platform to do that than the one like SWAG provides.
Ms List explained that events like the SWAG awards give credence to the popular adage that “a nation that does not honour its heroes is not worth dying for.
“It is a great honour for Adamus Resources to partner with SWAG on this awards which celebrates the hard work of members of our sports community. We say Ayekoo to our deserving sportsmen and women who against all odds, continue to excel and lift Ghana’s flag.”
Ms List commended SWAG for its consistency over the years in holding this event, saying: “We commend SWAG for not just lifting the torch, but keeping the flame burning and lighting the path for our heroes and heroines to be celebrated.”
She encouraged corporate Ghana to sponsor the nation’s sportsmen in their various disciplines and added the funding remains a great challenge for the sports folks, particularly those participating in the lesser known sports.
She said having come on board, Adamus pledges to add to the oil that keeps the flame burning bright in the years ahead.
She congratulated the Guest of Honour for the event, Ehunuabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday and 40th anniversary on his enstoolment as Paramount Chief of Owirenkyiman Traditional Area, which has Assin Kushea as its capital.
