Disregard claim General Secretary has been suspended — PNC
Regional Chairmen of the People’s National Convention (PNC) have urged the public to disregard a claim the party’s General Secretary, Janet Asana Nabla, has been suspended.
The decision was taken after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Accra on Saturday to debunk the claim.
Madam Nabla had been cited for gross misconduct and incompetence and called before the Disciplinary Committee, which she was alleged to have snubbed but the August 29 press release had it to the contrary.
Edward Mahama, member of the Council of Elders, Aremeyawu Ali, a founding member, and General Secretary, Janet Asana, were part of the signatories to the release.
According to the regional chairmen, “there are formal communications (letters) between the General Secretary and the Disciplinary Committee on clearing some challenges before she appears, only for us to hear of the purported NEC meeting to discuss the report of the committee which we describe as witch-hunting and open disregard for the principle of fair hearing.
According to 12 top officials of the PNC, “there was no NEC meeting of PNC on August 28, 2021 since the meeting fell short of forming a quorum in line with Article 45 (3) of the PNC’s constitution, which it requires nine out of 16 regional chairmen of the party to be present,” they stated.
The Regional Chairmen called on the National Chairman and the leader to resign their posts within one week or “face the consequences of a properly-constituted NEC rather than trying to cover their shame for their inability to constitute a proper NEC meeting; thereby dragging the party’s name in disrepute.”
The regional chairmen included Bala Maikankan, Greater Accra; Wanye Joseph; Savanna; Mahamudu Musah, Ahafo; Kwesi Amoah, Western North; James Sam, Central; Alhaji Baba Mohammed, Upper East; Alhaji Yahaya Tahiru, Northern; Alhaji Imoro Yakub, Eastern and Bakure Malone, North East.
