Five Antoa Schools Embark on Familiarisation Visit to Accra

Five selected schools from Antoa Township in the Kwabre East Municipality in the Ashanti Region have embarked on a one-day familiarisation visit to the Greater Accra Region at the invitation of the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong.
The visit on Monday formed part of efforts to expose pupils to national institutions and inspire them to pursue disciplined and purposeful lives through education.
A statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces and shared with The Ghanaian Times yesterday said the 50-member delegation was led by the Asunahene of Antoa, Nana Sarkodie Dartey.
It said the delegation comprised 40 students, five staff members, and five community representatives drawn from Antoa M A Primary and Junior High School, CB Mensah SDA Junior High School, Adesina M A Basic School, and Antoa United Primary.
The statement indicated that the delegation first witnessed the 47th ceremonial guard changing at the Jubilee House, after which they proceeded to the General Headquarters for an interactive session with the CDS.
It said the session was aimed at inspiring the students and bridging the gap between the youth and the armed forces.
Lieutenant General Agyapong used the opportunity to share his experiences and offered guidance on character development and national pride.
He urged the pupils to prioritise their education, stressing that academic discipline remained the foundation for future success, and advised them to anchor their ambitions in faith and obedience to authority.
The pupils also had the opportunity to have a first-hand experience of military equipment, including a passenger ride in armoured vehicles, and witnessed a silent drill display.
The statement further said the delegation toured the 153 Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment, where they were taken through its role in national defence.
It noted that the students had the chance to learn directly from military personnel about operational procedures and responsibilities.
Nana Sarkodie Dartey expressed appreciation to the CDS and the Ghana Armed Forces for the warm reception and the opportunity given to the students to learn about the military, describing the visit as impactful and inspiring.
