Former Finance Minister donates 12-unit classroom block to NOBISCO

A former Finance Minister and New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the Karaga Constituency in the Northern Region, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, yesterday handed over a 12-unit one-storey classroom block to the management, staff and students of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) in Tamale, his alma mater.

The project forms part of his efforts to support and expand teaching and learning infrastructure across schools in the Northern Region.
Dr Amin Adam has, through personal funds, undertaken similar projects in other institutions, including Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO), Markaziyya Islamic School and Ambariyya Islamic Institute.
At a ceremony to hand over the facility, he said although he gained admission to NOBISCO as a footballer, he had no regrets about attending the school.
He said the Northern School of Business had played a significant role in shaping his life and academic journey, and expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah.
Dr Amin Adam described education as a key equaliser in society, a ladder of opportunity, a tool for empowerment and a foundation for social mobility.
He said individuals who had the opportunity to succeed also had a responsibility to give back to the communities that nurtured and supported them.
As both an academic and a politician, he said education remained a top priority for him, assuring the school of his continued support.
He added that he was committed to promoting access to quality education across communities in the region.
Dr Amin Adam explained that the construction of the classroom block was intended to enhance effective teaching and learning in the school.
He noted that giving back to his alma mater had always been important to him, adding that supporting schools, particularly those he attended, brought him fulfilment.
He said the future of the country depended on the youth and urged students to take their education seriously to achieve their academic goals.
He also advised them to be disciplined and work hard to become responsible adults and future leaders.
The MP further appealed to the school authorities and students to take proper care of the facility to ensure its longevity and attract more development projects.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Issah Dokurugu, expressed gratitude to Dr Amin Adam for the gesture and gave the assurance that the facility would be well maintained.
He also appealed to other old students and philanthropists to support the school with infrastructure.
