A Government appointee at the Ketu South Assembly, Clemence Kofi Agbotey, has declared his intention to contest the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency. He is pledging to support efforts to strengthen party structures and grassroots mobilisation.
In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Agbotey said his decision was driven by a desire to contribute to the growth of the party and enhance its organisational capacity at the constituency level.
He outlined a vision centred on strengthening internal party systems, promoting community engagement, and supporting effective electoral campaigns aimed at positioning the party for improved performance.
Mr Agbotey noted that he would work closely with the Constituency Secretary to improve coordination among party units, enhance communication, and encourage the active participation of members at all levels.
He also emphasised the need to intensify voter registration efforts, particularly among the youth and first-time voters, as well as deepen grassroots mobilisation to sustain the party’s presence within communities.
Highlighting his experience, Mr Agbotey said he had served as an elected Assembly Member for the Blekusu Electoral Area for eight years, contributing to local governance and community development initiatives.
He currently serves as the Somé Fugo Zonal Secretary and Branch Chairman for the Blekusu Health Post and is also a Government Appointee to the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.
Mr Agbotey has also held various roles within the party’s electoral processes, including serving as a polling agent, Election Directorate member, and Ward Collation Officer, gaining experience in election management and party organisation.
He said these experiences had equipped him with a practical understanding of both party operations and grassroots dynamics, which he intends to bring to the Deputy Secretary role.
Mr Agbotey further indicated that he would prioritise capacity building for party members, foster collaboration with stakeholders, and promote inclusive participation to strengthen the party’s base.
He expressed confidence that with collective effort and commitment, the party could continue to build a strong presence in the constituency.
Mr Agbotey called on party members and supporters to support his candidature as he seeks to contribute to the development and unity of the NDC in Ketu South.
