La Dade-Kotopon municipality records 28 COVID-19 cases, 7 fully recovered

Twenty-eight out of 169 samples have tested positive for COVID-19 in the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The Municipal Health Directorate Disease Control Officer, Patience Aidoo, who disclosed this at a news conference in Accra on Thursday said, about 1,608 samples were taken for testing out of which, 169 sample results had been certified.
She said, out of the 28 cases recorded, 21 are receiving treatment, whiles seven have fully recovered, making the recovery rate 25 per cent.
The Disease Control Officer said that, no death has been recorded so far.
Madam Aidoo explained that, 302 samples have been taken so far through routine surveillance and out of that, 80 samples results have been received whilst the rest are pending.
She bemoaned the state of stigmatisation among people in the municipality and called for a stop to it, since it derails their work.
“People must desist from stigmatizing persons believed to have contracted the virus, no one has total immunity. Let us observe the various hygiene protocols to be able to defeat this virus,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Assembly has distributed about 20,000 pieces of masks to people in the municipality to help promote safety among the residents.
The move, the Municipal Chief Executive of LaDMA, Solomon Kotey Nikoi said, was to ensure people comply with the mandatory wearing of nose masks directed by the President.
In this regard, the assembly has launched a campaign dubbed, “Operation wear your nose mask”, to mitigate the spread of the virus.
