Let’s give late Ga Manye fitting burial – Paramount Stool House

The Paramount Stool House of the Ga State, Naa Atswei Mikpleno, has asked all traditional councils in the Ga State to close their ranks and come together to give the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedur II, a fitting burial.

According to the stool house it was ready to see through the final funeral rites of the late queen mother.

Consequently, it has appealed to the people of Ga Mashie and Accra as a whole to lend their support to the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) to give the departed queen mother a befitting burial.

“We call on everyone to observe the laid down instructions of the Ga Manye funeral planning committee and we express our deepest gratitude to the entire Ga Traditional Council (GTC) for steering the funeral arrangements to its present stage,” it said.

Addressing a news conference in Accra yesterday, the Stool father of the Ga State, Nii Adjei II, said he was happy that the GTC had exhibited unity of purpose so far and expressed the hope that it would maintain such high standards till the end of the funeral.

He said about a week ago, the Gbese Mantse and the Adonten of the Ga State went to sign the book of condolence and this act was significant for the Ga State.

Nii Adjei said it was the wish of the Ga Paramount Stool House of the Ga Manye that the peaceful atmosphere existing now, would be maintained during and after the funeral.

“All traditional rites should be observed strictly during the funeral. The Ga Manye deserves a very befitting burial and we need to close our ranks to do so,” he said.

In addition, he said all traders in Ga Mashie must comply with the order of the GTC to close their shops on October 28.

“We ask the people of Ga Mashie and by extension Ga at large to be circumspect in everything during the funeral. Traders as stated by the funeral planning committee should close their shops on the day of burial, Saturday, October 28, 2023, only and not from October 26 to 29 as previously announced,” he said.

He also called for all shops and markets to be draped in red and black to indicate a sign of mourning.

“We are very confident in the Asafoatsemei and their leadership and believe they would show a high sense of responsibility as they do always,” he emphasised.
