A man believed to be in his mid-20s has killed his biological father, Mr Kwaku Manu, at Assin Akrofuom in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
A timely intervention of the Central North Regional Police Command patrol team, saved the suspect, Richard Manu, also known as “Azonto,” from being lynched by an angry youth from the area.
The suspect is presently receiving treatment at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, under police guard.
Some residents of Assin Akrofuom told the Ghana News Agency that the suspect accused his father (deceased) of exchanging his destiny with that of his (Manu) elder brother, after they consulted a spiritualist.
The residents said Manu believed that it was the exchange of destiny that made his elder brother rich at his expense (suspect).
Manu confronted his father amidst accusations, resulting in a disagreement between the father and son.
Manu inflicted machete wounds and beheaded his father, and also inflicted machete wounds on the head and back of his mother and niece, who attempted to intervene.
The police patrol team took the injured mother and niece to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu. —GNA
