MoYS receives equipment from Qatar

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) has taken deliv­ery of variety of equipment from the State of Qatar.

The donation forms part of the Qatar 2022 World Cup Leg­acy project and a follow up to an initial support offered Ghana which helped in the successful organisation of the 13th African Games in Accra.

Equipment donated included HP laptops, office desks, media working tables, Samsung mobile phones, swivel chairs, and task chairs, among other items.

Presenting the items to the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, on Tuesday, the Charge d’af­faires of the Embassy of Qatar in Accra, Mohammed Hamad Al Marri, who presented on behalf of the Qatar ambassador to Ghana, emphasised the need to strengthen the bond that exists between Ghana and Qatar, and expressed his willingness to con­tinue with the excellent coopera­tion among the two states.

He highlighted Qatar’s interest in sports and its commitment to supporting countries like Ghana through donations of equip­ment used during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, adding that Qatar has great interest in sports and other sectors.

Hamad Al Marri congratulated Ghana for successfully hosting the African Games and wished for further progress and prosper­ity for the people of Ghana and more cooperation in the area of sports development.

Receiving the items, Mr Musta­pha Ussif, expressed gratitude to the Emir of Qatar, the Minister of Culture and Sports of Qatar, and the Ambassador of Qatar to Ghana for the kind gesture in supporting the country with various equipment which helped tremendously in the successful organisation of the 13th African Games.

The Minister announced that he had submitted a proposal to the Qatari people to scale up cooper­ation among the two states, and to establish the Ghana-Qatar legacy project which will in turn help to enhance Ghana’s sports infra­structure.
