NDC parliamentary primaries on hold in 14 constituencies

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has in the interim, suspended electoral processes for the election of its parliamentary candidates in 14 constituencies across the country.

The party will be electing its parliamentary candidates for the 2020 general election on Saturday August 24, 2019; however, the electoral processes in all constituencies across the country will proceed as earlier announced unless otherwise stated.

The affected constituencies included Chereponi in the North East Region, Kpandai and Bimbilla in the Northern Region and Hohoe in the Volta Region.

A statement issued by Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the NDC, said the party on Tuesday August 20, 2019, said in accordance with the National Executive Committee’s (NEC’s) decision to progressively conduct the parliamentary primaries, the following directives have been issued for compliance:

“All constituencies in the North East Region will proceed with the processes with the exception of Chereponi and all constituencies in the Northern Region will also proceed with the processes with the exception of Kpandai and Bimbila.

“In the Western Region, there will be no elections in Evalue Gwira, Takoradi, Amenfi East, Tarkwa Nsuem, Kwesimintim and Esikado Ketan, all constituencies in Western Region will proceed with the processes.

“All constituencies in the Central Region will proceed with the processes with the exception of Efutu, Awutu Senya East, Upper Denkyira West and Ejumako Enyan Essiam, all constituencies in the Volta Region will proceed with the processes with the exception of Hohoe.

“In the Eastern Region, the processes will proceed in Asuogyaman, Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya, Lower Manya, Ayensuano, Suhum, Fanteakwa North, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Upper West Akim, Afram Plains North, Afram Plains South, New Abirem and Abuakwa North,” the statement said. –classfmonline.com
