Nii Okuley Tetteh I substantive family head, Regent of Abofu – Gbese Mantse

The Oku We Family has reaffirmed Nii OkuleyTetteh I as the substantive Head of the family and Regent of Abofu in accordance with established customs and traditional processes within the Gbese Traditional Area.
In a statement issued in Accra, the family said the position of Nii Okuley Tetteh I had been duly recognised and affirmed by the Gbese Stool under the authority of Nii Ayi-Bonte II, who is the Gbese Mantse and President of the Gbese Traditional Area.
According to the family, the affirmation followed long-standing traditional protocols that govern leadership succession and family affairs within the Gbese Traditional Area.
The statement highlighted that the clarification had become necessary in response to what it described as falsehoods and misleading claims circulating on social media and other platforms, which were aimed at creating confusion and division within the Oku We Family.
It stressed that the family holds the highest respect for Ga traditional authority and the customs that guide stool and family matters, adding that such structures remain central to maintaining peace and order within the community.
The Oku We Family further emphasised that it remains a satellite town under the jurisdiction of the Gbese Stool, with Nii Ayi-Bonte II serving as Paramount Chief of Gbese and Adonten of the Ga State.
It said there was no ambiguity regarding the current leadership structure of the family, insisting that Nii Okuley Tetteh I continues to serve as both substantive Family Head of Oku We and Regent of Gbese Abofu until otherwise directed by the appropriate traditional authority.
The family and the Gbese Paramount Stool, therefore, called on individuals spreading misinformation to desist from actions that could undermine unity, peace and harmony within the family and the wider traditional area.
It urged members of the family, stakeholders and the public to remain calm, respect established traditional authority and work collectively in the spirit of peace and development.
Moreover, the statement underlined that the leadership of Nii Okuley Tetteh I remained committed to reconciliation, strengthening family bonds and preserving the dignity, legacy and traditions of the Oku We Family for future generations.
It then reaffirmed the family’s unwavering respect for the authority of the Gbese Stool and its commitment to maintaining stability within the Ga traditional community.
