President John Dramani Mahama has signed the Legal Education Bill and the Value for Money Office Act into law, marking a significant shift in Ghana’s institutional and fiscal governance.
The signing of the Legal Education Bill is set to overhaul the country’s legal training framework.
By authorizing the accreditation of additional law schools to provide professional courses, the law aims to resolve chronic capacity issues and broaden access for aspiring legal professionals.
In tandem, the Value for Money Office Act establishes a formal oversight body dedicated to public sector expenditure.
The new office is tasked with scrutinizing government contracts and spending to ensure transparency and maximize the utility of public funds.
Government officials state that these legislative reforms are central to a broader agenda of accountability and the modernization of state institutions.
