GAF denies alleged probe of former CDS Gen. Thomas Oppong-Peprah

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed reports alleging that former Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, is under investigation for various infractions.

In a press statement issued on Friday August 21, and signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, GAF described the publication as “malicious” and “false.”

“The attention of the Ghana Armed Forces has been drawn to a malicious news item alleging that General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, former Chief of the Defence Staff and the current Deputy High Commissioner to Canada, is under probe by the Ghana Armed Forces for various infractions,” the statement read.

According to GAF, no such investigation is being undertaken.

“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state emphatically that the story is false and groundless. No such investigation is being undertaken,” Captain Arhin stated.

General Oppong-Peprah served as Ghana’s Chief of the Defence Staff before his current diplomatic posting as Deputy High Commissioner to Canada.

GAF has urged the public to disregard the report and stop spreading what it termed misinformation.

“All well-meaning citizens are urged to ignore the report and cease the spread of such misinformation,” the statement concluded.
