Stallion unveils Maxus, Bestune vehicle brands

Stallion Automobile Industry Limited has introduced the Maxus and Bestune vehicle brands onto the Ghanaian market, adding to the range of vehicles available to consumers.

The vehicles include electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), as well as petrol and diesel-powered models.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, the Country Head of Stallion Automobile Industry Limited, Mr Ganesh Phadale, said the introduction of the brands formed part of efforts to support the gradual transition towards cleaner transport technologies.

He noted that the company had been involved in the introduction of electric vehicles in Ghana since 2020 and observed that growing interest in EVs reflected global trends in the automotive industry.

Mr Phadale acknowledged that limited charging infrastructure remained a challenge to the wider adoption of electric vehicles, but said plug-in hybrid models offered an alternative by combining battery power with conventional fuel engines, allowing drivers to continue their journeys when the battery charge is depleted.

He expressed the expectation that confidence in electric mobility would improve as charging infrastructure expanded across the country.

Among the vehicles introduced was the Bestune Mini Pony EV, an entry-level electric vehicle with a driving range of about 220 kilometres on a single charge.

Mr Phadale also called for continued engagement between government and players in the automotive industry on policies affecting vehicle assembly, including the implementation of the 20 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on locally assembled vehicles.
