Teiman celebrates Homowo in style

The people of Teiman in the La Nkwantanang – Madina Municipality yesterday celebrated their annual Homowo Festival with pomp and pageantry.
The ceremony, led by the Chief of the area, Nii Manley Dzahaa I, and his elders, sprinkled the Kpokpoi in the households and surroundings of their ancestors as well as the water bodies within the community amidst singing and dancing.
The ceremony was preceded by the pouring of libation to the ancestors thanking them for their guidance and protection during the year.
Praye rs were also said for the President, the various government officials and ot her appointees for the fulfilment of the desire of the citizenry.
He said the youth instead of concentrating on their education have resorted to drug use and several complains to the police have yielded no result as the situation exacerbates. The Chief, therefore, appealed to the Inspector General of Police to set up watch dog committees in every community in the country to help fight not only the high drug use but also other criminal activities, especially armed robbery and other anti-social activities.
He called for the renovation of the only g overnment school in the area, the Anglican Basic School, and also provides facilities for the newly constructed Community Health Planning and Services Compound.
Nii Dzahaa urged the Assembly to as a matter of urgency to construct drainage systems in order to prevent the perennial flooding experienced after the slightest rain, and also ensure the reconstruction of the roads in the area.
He commended the people for a peaceful celebration and urged them to continue supporting the traditional authorities as efforts are being made to develop the area.
