Welcome back to President’s office!
On December 7, 2024, Ghanaians went to the polls and the outcome was a resounding and overwhelming victory for the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, to once more lead Ghana.
The December elections mark a significant moment in Ghana’s political history, as President Mahama, who served as President of Ghana from January 7, 2013 to January 6, 2017, is the only politician to have lost power and staged a successful comeback for another constitutional four-year tenure.
He joins the league of former American President Grover Cleveland, and most recently Donald Trump and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who lost power after serving a term of four years and made a successful bid back to power to complete another four-year tenure.
To us Ghanaians, the December 7 general election is also historic as it is the first time for a female to occupy the second office of the land.
As the two, the Gentleman and woman of the land, have taken their oaths of office at the historic inauguration at the Independence Square, we at The Ghanaian Times also extend our congratulations to the duo, on their hard work, resilience during the electioneering leading to their overwhelming endorsement; and significant number of majority seats their NDC party has in Parliament.
We express our unalloyed and unwavering commitment to helping the government build the Ghana that we want.
Indeed, you deserve coming back to office as your track records showed you have a lot to offer Ghanaians, hence your firm decision to stage a come-back to complete your unfinished agenda to restore the economy to sound footing, give hope to the teeming Ghanaian youth who yearn for jobs and prosperity and to restore our fast-depleting, degraded environment for generations.
We believe in your competence and ability to marshal all the best brains in the country to implement policies to bring social transformation based on inclusivity to create a prosperous society so that no one will be left behind, in line with Article 36(1) of the 1992 Constitution:
“The state shall take all necessary actions to ensure that the national economy is managed in such a manner as to maximise the rate of economic development and secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every person in Ghana and to provide adequate means of livelihood and suitable employment and public assistance to the needy.”
We are aware the journey has just started and it is going to be tough but we trust in your team that when the going gets tough, the team would get tough and going.
You are no novice to the highest office of the land; we trust and believe in your wide experience, honesty, good track record, reliability and mental toughness.
We pat the back of our indefatigable and distinguished academic, as your Vice, to give you the best of pair to deliver the best of leadership to Ghanaians.
We ‘re glad to reconnect with you with our avid readers.
Relatedly, we wish to express our profound gratitude to our avid and cherished readers and reassure you that we are back with much more exciting news and information to satisfy their needs.
