14th Garden and Flower Show to highlight green economy

The 14th edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS) will come off at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra from September 11 to 21 , 2026 on the Themed: “Green Means Business, Beauty and More.”

The 11-day event, organised by Strategic Communications Africa Ltd. (Stratcomm Africa) will focus on the economic, environmental and social benefits of greening.

The 2026 show is expected to bring together local and international exhibitors, horticulture and floriculture industry players, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, policymakers, students, families and the general public.

According to the organisers, the theme seeks to broaden public understanding of greening by highlighting the opportunities it creates beyond beautification.

It will also feature exhibitions of floriculture, horticulture, landscaping and eco-friendly products, as well as garden ornaments and other innovations.

As part of the activities, a horticulture roundtable will be held to provide opportunity for industry players and prospective entrants to discuss the horticulture value chain, its opportunities and challenges.

Another major feature according to Stratcomm Africa, will be the Green to Riches Conference, which will focus on green entrepreneurship and existing and emerging opportunities, particularly for young people.

Participants will also have access to masterclasses and practical demonstrations in gardening, horticulture, landscaping and related areas.

Speaking on the significance of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa and Convener of the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, Ms Esther A. N. Cobbah, said greening should be viewed as an opportunity for economic and social development.

She said the concept of “green” went beyond simply planting trees, stressing that it could support businesses, livelihoods, creativity, wellness and a better quality of life.

Ms Cobbah noted that since its establishment in 2013, the Ghana Garden and Flower Show had provided a platform to encourage Ghanaians to appreciate, protect and invest in the country’s green environment.

She therefore , encouraged businesses, entrepreneurs, young people, families, institutions and development partners to participate in the green economy through enterprise, creativity, education, beautification and the creation of healthier spaces.

The 2026 edition will also include activities for children, including the Little Green Fingers programme and a children’s playground designed to nurture appreciation for nature and the environment.

Other attractions will include a food court and a series of evening events featuring the Stewards of the Earth Awards Night, Music Night, Drama Night and the Fashion in Bloom Show.

The organisers are inviting government agencies, corporate organisations, businesses, entrepreneurs, development partners, educational institutions, civil society organisations and members of the public to participate as exhibitors, sponsors, partners or visitors.

The organisers believe that as Ghana continues to urbanise, greater attention to greenery could help create more sustainable, attractive and liveable communities while opening up opportunities in the country’s emerging green economy.
