378 suspects arrested ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha
A total of 378 suspects have been arrested in the Accra Metropolis as part of efforts to clamp down on criminal activities, to ensure peaceful celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha, today.
The operation, which begun on July 13 and ended on July19, 2021, saw the arrest of 354 males and 24 females, between the ages of 19 and 57 years, in their hideouts in Accra.
The Accra Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, disclosed these to the Ghanaian Time, in Accra, yesterday.
She said the operation was carried out at Sowutuom, Kwabenya, Osu, Kotobabi, Airport, Dansoman, Oyibi, Mamprobi, Abokobi Ayi Mensah, Darkuman, Cantoments, Kaneshie, Korle bu, Kokrobite, Adenta, Tesano, Legon and Nungua.
The Police PRO said suspects are in police custody and those found culpable will be arraigned.
She said the police retrieved a quantities of dried leaves, suspected to be marijuana, sachets of liquid substances laced with narcotics, 33 motorcycles, laptops, mobile phones, knives, cutlasses and other offensive weapons.
DSP Tenge advised the public to offer police the needed support in its crime-fighting efforts, by volunteering credible information.
