
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has urged African countries to move beyond the adoption of international public sector accounting standards and build strong financial systems that promote transparency, accountability and public trust.
He said accounting standards alone could not guarantee transparency and accountability, stressing that they needed to be supported by strong institutions, skilled professionals, reliable data, modern technology and a culture of accountability.
