Assemblies of God holds apostolic visitation, renews call for unity

The leadership of Assemblies of God, Ghana, has intensified preparations towards the upcoming Assemblies of God World Congress in Accra, with a call for spiritual renewal, unity and sustained prayer among ministers and members of the church.
The church also used the opening of its 2026 Apostolic Visitation to urge pastors to remain steadfast in their calling, strengthen their families and recommit themselves to the mission of advancing the gospel despite challenges facing ministry.
The call was made during the commencement of the visitation at the Cedar Mountain Chapel at East Legon on Sunday, where pastors and their spouses, retirees and widows of pastors gathered for the opening session hosted by the Greater Accra East Region.
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, led participants through a three-and-a-half-hour prayer session focused on thanksgiving, repentance, rededication and intercession.
The prayers also centred on the successful hosting of the Assemblies of God World Congress scheduled for Accra in October, as well as the needs of the church, individuals and the nation.

Rev. Wengam, in a message, encouraged pastors to remain diligent in their calling and avoid attitudes such as grumbling and anxiety, which he said could undermine peace and effectiveness in ministry.
He urged ministers to remain focused on their divine mandate, stressing that commitment and a positive attitude were essential for the growth of the church and the advancement of its mission.
As part of the programme, he led ministers and their spouses in renewing their marriage vows, underscoring the importance of preserving the sanctity of marriage and remaining faithful to commitments made before God.
The Greater Accra East Regional Superintendent, Rev. Andrews Nelson Awintia, expressed appreciation to Rev. Wengam and his wife, Lady Mrs Monica Wengam, for their leadership and dedication to the growth of the church.
Lady Mrs Monica Wengam also commended pastors and their spouses for their sacrifice and commitment to ministry, and presented cloth and cash donations to widows, retirees and their spouses in recognition of their service.
Pastors’ wives also received cloth, while pastors were presented with gifts as a gesture of appreciation for their contributions to the work of the ministry.
The Apostolic Visitation forms part of efforts by the church to strengthen fellowship, provide spiritual direction and support ministers and their families across the country ahead of the World Congress.
