The Bui Power Authority (BPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sanitation by joining the government’s nationwide clean-up exercise aimed at reducing the risk of flooding after recent heavy rains.
The Authority’s staff took part in sanitation activities in Accra and communities within the Bui enclave as part of the National General Cleaning Exercise held under the theme, “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods.”
At the BPA Head Office in the Airport Residential Area, staff desilted drains, swept streets, cleared refuse and filled potholes to improve sanitation, safety and access.
Similar activities were carried out across the Authority’s operational areas and communities within the Bui enclave.
The exercise was led by the Chief Executive Officer of BPA, Ing. Kow Eduakwa Sam. He was joined by the Deputy Chief Executive Officers, directors and other staff of the Authority.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr Sam said environmental sanitation should be the responsibility of everyone.
He said BPA was proud to support the national campaign and urged Ghanaians to help keep their communities clean.
“Environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility. At Bui Power Authority, we are proud to support this national exercise and encourage every Ghanaian to play their part in keeping our communities clean,” he said.
The participation of the Authority comes as the government steps up efforts to improve sanitation following recent floods in parts of the country. The nationwide clean-up campaign aims to clear blocked drains, remove waste and promote cleaner surroundings to help prevent future flooding.
BPA said its involvement reflects its commitment to supporting national development and protecting the environment. The Authority added that it would continue to promote environmental sanitation in its operational areas and the communities where it operates.
