Chief appeals to govt for flagship projects
The Wirempemhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Ekwam X, has appealed to the government to assist the people of Ekwamkrom to construct a number of development projects to help give the community a face-lift.
They include potable water, water and sanitation facilities, market, library, community centre, public place of convenience, accessible roads, clinic and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.
Nana Ekwam, who is also the chief of Ekwamkrom, made the appeal at a news conference held at his palace and called on the government to extend a helping hand to the community with the One District One Factory, One Village One Dam and other flagship projects.
He assured the government of the people’s preparedness to provide adequate communal labour for any assistance needed and regretted that for so many years the inhabitants of Ekwamkrom had been woefully denied of any governmental support and assistance in terms of development projects, leaving the community to lack facilities to improve livelihoods.
Nana Ekwam disclosed that his administration was prepared to release large track of land to support and assist the government in initiating flagship projects and other programmes in the community.
“If the community becomes a beneficiary of flagship projects and other programmes to ameliorate the plight of my people, it will help jobless youth in the area to obtain jobs, create wealth and contribute their quota towards the growth and development of the town.
“Ekwamkromwasone, the peaceful communities in Gomoa Central, have urged all sons and daughters, both home and abroad, to unite in order to bring development so as to face-lift and attract investment to the town, our capital strength and loan as a town may not be sufficient enough for the development agenda in the area, we call on other corporate bodies, philanthropists and well-wishers to extend aid to the community so that we can accomplish our mission,” Nana Ekwam noted. –GNA
