Christians across the country yesterday observed Palm Sunday with various church activities ahead of Easter celebration this week.

Palm Sunday is a significant Christian holiday that commemorates Jesus Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event described in the four canonical Gospels. It’s celebrated on the Sunday before Easter and marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.

Different denominations in the capital undertook series of activities to mark the day.

It is the final Sunday in Lent, leading to Easter. On this day, Christians remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and look forward to His second coming.

Preaching on the theme “The Suffering of the Innocent,” Catechist Eugene Boakye Ofori-Atta reminded the congregation that suffering is part of the Christian journey and does not always mean someone has sinned.

He explained that many times, trials are a way for God’s glory to be revealed in a person’s life.

Clad in white and colorful traditional attire , the congregation ,waved their palm fronds and sang Methodist hymns as they march through the surrounding communities with music provided by the church’s brass band chanting , “Hosanna in the Highest”.

The Head pastor of the church, Very Rev. Naana Esi Dan Nyame, preaching on theme “The suffering of the innocent”. After the procession, urged the members to have that confidence that God would always be on their side, saying if “God declares right, no one can condemn us”.

Rev. Nyame said although Jesus Christ was blameless, he had to suffer unjustly for the sake of humanity .

“He made Himself of no reputation and took on the form of a servant even unto death on the cross “she said.
