Depend on Holy Spirit, not man — Archbishop Duncan-Williams
The Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has urged Christians to rely on the Holy Spirit rather than human beings in overcoming life’s challenges.
According to him, God’s Spirit empowered believers with wisdom, direction and strength to excel in every sphere of life.
Speaking at the Global Prayer Works Summit in Accra on Thursday, the Archbishop said the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit gives believers understanding beyond human intelligence, enabling them to fulfil God’s purpose and achieve outstanding results.
The three-day summit, on the theme: ‘Enforcing Victory,’ brought together hundreds of worshippers for worship, biblical teaching, strategic prayers and prophetic ministrations aimed at strengthening their faith and equipping them to enforce spiritual victories in their daily lives.
Drawing lessons from the Book of Daniel, Archbishop Duncan-Williams said the biblical prophet distinguished himself because of the Spirit of God at work within him. He added that other biblical figures, including Joshua and the three Hebrew men, also excelled because they depended on God’s Spirit.
He explained that Daniel’s “excellent spirit” earned him favour before kings and rulers, serving as a reminder that believers who cultivate a close relationship with the Holy Spirit would stand out in their professions, leadership roles and other assignments.
The Archbishop encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in prayer until they received what he described as the “witness of the Spirit”—an inner assurance that God had granted them victory over every situation.
According to him, that confidence should naturally lead to thanksgiving and worship because every victory is first secured in the spiritual realm before it is manifested physically.
He further urged believers to remain sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, describing His guidance as the Christian’s greatest advantage in fulfilling God’s purpose and navigating the complexities of life.
Also addressing the gathering, the Founder and President of Eastwood Anaba Ministries and Fountain Gate Chapel, Rev. Eastwood Anaba, challenged Christians, particularly the youth, to embrace science and technology as important instruments for advancing God’s kingdom and contributing to national development.
He said Christians should not limit their understanding of God’s power to spiritual matters alone but should also pursue excellence in scientific knowledge, innovation and technology.
Rev. Anaba encouraged young people to develop interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), noting that the disciplines were shaping the future and creating opportunities to solve society’s most pressing challenges.
Referring to Daniel, he described the prophet as a man filled with the Spirit of God who also excelled in wisdom, knowledge and science, demonstrating that faith and intellectual excellence could go hand in hand.
He, therefore, called on the Church to intentionally nurture scientists, innovators and technology experts who would influence society while remaining grounded in Christian values.
Rev. Anaba stressed that scientific advancement should not be viewed as a threat to the Christian faith but rather as an avenue through which believers could demonstrate God’s wisdom through innovation, creativity and discovery.
He also urged parents to support their children’s interest in science and technology and encourage them to pursue careers in those fields.
