Double track will not be scrapped in 2020 – Dr Prempeh
The Education Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has made
known that, the Double Track policy will not be scrapped in September 2020 as
being speculated.
.He added that instead, most of the schools will be removed from double track
system because the NPP government has made provision.
To that effect, he revealed that the government is building over 1000
modernised classroom blocks to boast the Free Senior High School policy.
In an exclusive interview with Kessben Media’s Omanhene Yaw
Adu Boakye, he added that, the yet to be completed school blocks will be the
first of its kind in the country.
“The largest building programme since independence in secondary school is
what we are building, over thousand structures’’ he averred, adding that the
implementation of the classroom blocks will address the challenge of the Double
Track system in the education sector.
The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South constituency said, the Free Senior High School with its Double Track is on the right path fulfilling President Akufo-Addo’s promise to move Ghana forward not necessarily to win political power.
He continued that, 19 senior high schools had written to
Ghana Education Service for permission to exempt themselves from the double
track system to single track because of the buildings the government has put in
place.
This year is accountability year and the ministry will soon make a video of
performance in education in the country he added.—kessbenfm
