ECG boost power supply in V/R

The management of the Volta Region branch of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in collaboration with the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) has initiated measures to improve power provision to residents in the southern part of the Volta region to ensure uninterrupted power provision.

The measures including boosting the 15 megawatt capacity of transmitter at Sogakope in the South Tongu District, with a new transmitter with the capacity of 10 megawatts to ensure that the issue of frequent light outs would become a thing of the past.

Briefing journalists on the development here at the weekend, the Volta Regional Director of the ECG, Ms Christina Jatoe-Kaleo explained that the additional transformer would improve on electricity provision in South Tongu District, Akatsi-South District, Central Tongu and the Keta Municipality.

She said her outfit was not only committed to addressing the electricity needs of residents in the region but also build the confidence of the people in the ECG.

She assured the people of the Volta Region of quality and regular service provision that would be appreciated by all and called on stakeholders to cooperate with management in its efforts to provide residents with power to meet their daily needs.

The Volta Regional Engineer of the ECG, Mr Godfred Awuku said the company was involved in innovative activities to meet the growing demand for electricity.

He said his outfit was up to the task in meeting customer demands, and would remove all bottlenecks associated with electricity provision in the region.
