Former Minister gives back to alma mater

A FORMER Minister of Finance, Mohammed Amin Adam, on Thursday inaugurated a newly constructed one-storey classroom block for the Markaziyya Islamic School at Zogbeli, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region.
The project, funded by Dr Amin, also includes a 12-seater water closet facility, offices, a store, and a staff common room to support both teaching and learning in the school.

The facility was inaugurated on his behalf by his aide, Alhaji Abdul Halim Tikumah, who said the school holds personal significance for Dr Amin, as it was where he studied the Holy Quran in his early years.
He noted that the former minister was delighted to give back to his alma mater and the Muslim community in Tamale.
“I am happy that I am able to give back to my old school. This is a great blessing from Allah, and I praise His holy name for this honour,” he quoted Dr Amin.
He also prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for Sheikh Tahir Issah, the founder of the school, for laying the foundation that has produced many scholars and promoted the teachings of Islam.
Alhaji Tikumah said the new classroom block would enhance the teaching and learning of Arabic studies in the school.
He advised students to be disciplined and study hard to become responsible adults, citing Dr Amin as an example.
He added that the future of the country depends on the youth, and urged them to take their education seriously in order to achieve their goals.
Students were also encouraged to take proper care of the new facilities in order to ensure their longevity and attract more developmental projects.
Alhaji Tikumah emphasised that education remains a top priority for Dr Amin and assured the school of his continued support. He added that the former minister is committed to promoting access to quality education in communities across the region.
The leader of the Islamic instructors at the school, Alhaji Aboochi Mallam, expressed gratitude to Dr Amin for the well-furnished facility and assured him that it would be properly maintained.
He said they would continue to pray for Dr Amin’s good health and success in his future endeavours.
The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Abiba Asoma, also commended Dr Amin for the gesture and pledged that the facility would be well maintained to serve its intended purpose.
She further assured that the school would make effective use of the building to enhance teaching and learning.
