Ghana Drive inaugurates executives
A Former Chief Executive Officer of the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Dr Justice Morkporkpor Y. Amegashie, has inaugurated a six-member executives of the Ghana National Association of Driving Schools (Ghana Drive).
They are Mr Francis Yao Agbozo and Mr Clement Osei Tutu to serve the association as the president and vice president respectively.
The rest are Mr Ali Wahab, Mr Archadius Nambazing, Mr Francis Kwamena Spio and Mr Peter Kweku Adjei as the General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary, Treasurer and Financial Secretary respectively.
They have a four-year mandate to help in the administration of the Association.
Speaking at the inauguration on Thursday, Mr Agbozo outlined measures to improve and sustain the association, emphasising his commitment to improve upon what has been built already by his predecessor.
These, he said, included the development of a strategic plan for the Association as well as to complete the review of the association’s constitution.
Dr Amegashie, who chaired the programme, emphasised the importance of road safety, while highlighting the alarming statistics of road crashes in the country.
He noted that a one per cent increase in motor vehicles could lead to increased road crashes, fatalities, and injuries.
The immediate past president of the Ghana Drive, Reverend Erasmus Amankwah, stated that the Association made significant progress over the past eight years.
He again mentioned that when his team took over the leadership of the association, the country had no institutional driver training, resulting in unqualified drivers on the roads.
Rev. Amankwah added that the association also introduced several initiatives, including online registration linked to DVLA, annual conferences for member schools, and a functional secretariat.
