Ghana Gas gets 2 ISO certifications

The Ghana Gas Company Limited has successfully attained two International Standard Organisation (ISO) certifications, as part of the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and occupational health and safety.
They are ISO 14001 certification which is a globally recognised standard for environmental management system, which ensures that Ghana Gas integrates environmentally sustainable practices into its operations, whereas the ISO 45001 certification on the other hand, demonstrates the company’s adherence to the highest standards in Occupation Health and Safety Management.
Speaking at the announcement of the certifications, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Robert Kofi Lartey, expressed his pride in the company’s accomplishment and acknowledged the dedication of staff, leadership of past and present management in achieving the two certifications milestone.
He said the vision of Ghana Gas was to be a trusted and reliable gas services company.
“These certifications underscore our unwavering commitment to conducting business responsibly while safeguarding the well-being of our employees and minimising our environmental impact.
This achievement would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our workforce, the relentless dedication of the HSE Operations Department, ISO Project Team and Management,” Dr Lartey stated.
The Acting CEO said the ISO certification journey from Ghana Gas began on November 12, 2019, but faced setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Despite the challenges, the company achieved ISO 45001 certification on April 1, 2022 and subsequently expanded the scope to include ISO 14001 certification in early 2024,” he said.
Dr Lartey said as part of the drive for excellence, Ghana Gas was set to embark on a new certification process for ISO 9001, a globally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems.
The drive for the triple ISO would be on the theme “A Future of Excellence: Triple ISO Certification – Our Commitment to Quality, Environment and Safety.”
The Acting CEO reiterated Ghana Gas’ commitment to continuous improvement, emphasising that the company would build upon that strong foundation to deliver consistent value to Ghana’s energy sector while supporting national policies, including the President’s 24-hour economy initiative.
“Ghana Gas remains dedicated to operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and employee well-being. The company continues to lead the industry by implementing best practices that ensure long-term sustainability and efficiency in the energy sector,” Dr Lartey said.
The Sales Administrative Support Business Assurance of DNV, a certification company which handled Ghana Gas’ certification process, Ingrid Evelyn Keelson, in her remarks, described Ghana Gas’ attainment of the two ISO certificates as “significant milestone.”
She said attaining two ISO certifications were no mean achievement and demonstrated the company’s commitment to meeting its environmental obligations in sustainable manner.
Madam Keelson lauded Ghana Gas for the feat and said “It was a shining example of what can be done through collaboration.”
