Ho Municipal Assembly to be upgraded to metropolitan status  – Dr Bawumia

The Vice President and the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured chiefs and people of the Ho Municipality that the government will soon upgrade the Ho Municipal Assembly to a metropolitan status to facilitate rapid development.

Dr Bawumia said the necessary measures were being put in place to achieve the objective of upgrading the municipal assembly to the status of a metropolitan.

The Vice President gave the assurance when he inaugurated an office complex funded under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for the Ho Municipal Assembly to round up his four-day campaign tour of the Volta Region on Wednesday.

According him, the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led NPP government had provided infrastructure throughout the country, which could not be compared to the records of any government and the Volta Region had its share of the development.

He therefore asked the electorates in the Ho Central Constituency to vote for him as the next president and the Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) as their Member of Parliament for development.

The NPP presidential candidate asked Ghanaians to believe in him as the only candidate in the 2024 general elections, who had demonstrated enough to them to have what it takes to bring transformational development.

The Vice President assured the people that when given the opportunity as the next president, he would adopt what he called a broad-based inclusive development strategy at the district, regional levels.

He said his philosophy of governance, which influenced the policies of the NPP over the past eight years included the Free Senior High School (SHS), aimed at building a strong human capital development through education.

He said government had spent GH¢66 billion on vocational technical training education in 34 vocational training institutions in the country.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, said development projects executed under the Nana Addo -Bawumia administration in the Volta Region were unprecedented.

The Ho MCE, Mr Divine K. Bosson, said the Ho Municipality had seen much development under the Nana Addo and Bawumia administration than all other governments for the past 32 years and appealed to the people to vote for him as their MP and Dr Bawumia as the next president.

The Paramount Chief of Takla Traditional Area and President of the Takla Traditional Council (TTC), Togbe Ayim Adzokoto commended the government for bringing what he described as transformational development which would benefit the present and future generations.
