Journalist robbed of GhȻ800, phone
A female sports presenter working with the Sun-City Radio at Sunyani, in the Bono Region, was on Monday attacked and robbed of GhȻ 800 and phone, at her apartment.
The robber, wielding a pair of pliers and a dagger, forced to open the door to Princess Nafisa’s apartment at about 1:30am, at Abesim, near Sunyani.
She told the Ghanaian Times that the robber took advantage of the morning downpour and carried out the operation.
According to Princess Nafisa, the armed man did not hurt her, adding “the robber left the empty bag outside the compound after taking the money in it”.
Princess Nafisa said she reported the robbery to the Sunyani Municipal Police Command, but she was directed to report to the Abesim Police
.
She said she failed to comply to the directive of the Sunyani police, and she had relocated to a friend’s house.
Meanwhile, residents of Abesim appealed to the police to intensify patrols at night to ward off criminals in the community.
Bismarck Ofori, a resident of Abesim, who spoke with the Ghanaian Times, appealed to the police to ensure law and order in the area.
When the Ghanaian Times sought to find out from the Municipal Police Command why the police did not take action, but referred the victim to the Abesim Police Station, an officer on duty, said the Commander was not available.
The officer on duty said the police could not act on the issue because the victim had refused to respect the police’s directive.
