Nabia call on Omanhene of Essumeja, Nana Okyere Kusi Ntrama

The past students of Navrongo Senior High School (NAVASCO), known as Nabia, over the weekend paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Essumeja Traditional Area, Nana Okyere Kusi Ntrama, also an old student, to wish him well.

In April 2022, Nana Ntrama swore the oath of allegiance to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to become the Chief of Essumeja Asantemanso (Essumejahene) and the Benkumhene of the Asanteman council.

The courtesy visit led by the General Secretary of Old NAVASCANS Union, Charles Wompiah, also coincided with Akwasidae, a day when the Paramount Chief sits in state with his sub-chiefs to receive goodwill messages from well-wishers from all walks of life, who also present gifts and pleasantries to him.

The Nabia delegation were given the platform to tell their mission and they indicated that since Nana Ntrama was one of their own, it was incumbent on them to officially visit him at his palace and wish him well on his assumption of position as Essumejahene, and also pray to the gods to support him to succeed as the Paramount chief.

They presented some drinks and a cash donation as tradition demanded. Nana Okyere, who was visibly elated, disclosed that he was happy that Nabia came over to grace the occasion, and added that he was always proud to be an old NAVASCAN and cherished every moment he had with Nabia.

He said NAVASCO wasa great school by all standards, and that the multidisciplinary training he had in NAVASCOhas made him who he was now, adding that NAVASCO was more than just going to school.

Nana recounted the good old days in NAVASCOand said the experience he had in Navasco had always been a motivation to him.

He pledged his support for Nabia and NAVASCO and promised to actively participate in their activities.

The Chairman of the Kumasi Branch of the Old NAVASCAN Union, Charles Ayuekambey, said Nabia was proud of their own ascending to the high position as the Chief of Essumeja, and invited him to attend Nabia meetings whenever he had the opportunity.

Nana was later presented with a book by Nabia ACP (rtd) Richard Baduweh titled ‘The NAVASCAN Chronicles’, which is a compilation of memoirs of old students of the school.
