New online learning platform extends UCC’s academic excellence to professionals in Ghana and beyond
The University of Cape Coast has launched the UCC eCampus, a structured online learning platform with the aim of making selected postgraduate programmes accessible to professionals in Ghana, across Africa and around the world.
The initiative between the University and Astra Learning seeks to support professionals who want to advance their qualifications without leaving their employment, relocating or attending regular classes on campus.
Through eCampus, learners would be able to undertake structured postgraduate study while continuing to manage their professional and personal responsibilities.
Selected MBA, MSc, DBA and PhD programmes in areas such as business management, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, finance, and healthcare management would be offered at the eCampus.
Other programmes included human resource management, monitoring and evaluation, project management, supply chain and logistics, and sustainability and governance.
A release issued by UCC eCampus Communication Office said the initiative reflects the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence, wider access and education that responds to the needs of professionals and society.
The Vice Chancellor of UCC, Prof Denis Worlanyo Aheto said: “Education is the most reliable engine of progress we have, for individuals and for nations.”
UCC eCampus ensures that engine is available to more people, professionals with responsibilities, families and careers who nonetheless carry the ambition to do more.”
The University, he said, was proud to walk that journey with Astra Learning to allow students to access lectures, learning materials, assignments, assessments, faculty engagement and academic support through a structured digital learning environment.
The model, he said, combines the flexibility of online study with the academic rigour expected of a University of Cape Coast postgraduate programme.
The programmes, he said, had been developed for graduates and professionals at different stages of their careers, including those seeking career progression, specialist expertise, stronger leadership capabilities or the qualifications required to assume greater responsibility within their organisations and industries.
The Chief Executive of Astria Learning, Dr Jeff Bordes, indicated that “The professionals this platform serves don’t need convincing that education matters; they need a way to pursue it that fits the reality of their lives.”
He further said: “That is what we have built with the University of Cape Coast: a learning experience designed around the working professional, not the other way around, with the structure and support to carry them from enrolment to graduation.”
He explained that extending postgraduate education beyond the physical campus, UCC eCampus would serve learners across Ghana as well as professionals elsewhere in Africa and around the world.
“It will also provide Ghanaians living abroad with a flexible way to pursue postgraduate education through one of the country’s leading public universities” he said.
