Nsumia Church of Christ donates to Nsawam Prison

The Nsumia Church of Christ in the Nsawam-Addoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region has donated assorted food and non-food items worth GH¢15, 000 to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to support the upkeep of inmates.
The items included rice, gari, toilet rolls, soap, used clothing, shoes, slippers, plastic chairs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and an amplifier.
Members of the Nsumia Church of Christ were also given the opportunity to worship with the Nsawam Medium Security Prison Church of Christ.
Presenting the items to the Prisons at Nsawam last Friday, Evangelist Edward Boakye, the pastor of the Nsumia Church of Christ, said the donation was the church’s contribution to supporting the welfare of the inmates.
He explained that the amplifier was specifically donated to the Prison Church of Christ to enhance the church’s activities within the prison yard.
Evangelist Boakye noted that the donation was part of the Elder Paul Kojo Adolf Memorial Lectures, held annually in honour of the late Mr Adolf, whose efforts contributed to the establishment of the Church of Christ in the Nsumia community.
During a church service with the Nsawam Medium Security Prison Church of Christ, Evangelist Boakye urged the inmates to let the love of God dwell in them and to avoid acts contrary to God’s word.
Receiving the items, Emmanuel Awatey, the Deputy Superintendent of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison in charge of Gate B, expressed gratitude to the Nsumia Church of Christ for the donation.
He appealed to other churches to emulate the gesture and pledged that the items would be used for their intended purpose.
