The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has led the newly elected Executive Presbytery officers of the church to pay a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at his residence in Accra.
The visit was to introduce the newly elected leaders to the President and express appreciation to him for serving as the special guest of honour at the church’s 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting, which ended at Gomoa Fetteh on August 22, 2026.
The delegation included the Assistant General Superintendent-elect, Rev. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah; General Secretary-elect, Rev. Albert Anane; and Lady Mrs Monica Wengam, wife of the General Superintendent and National President of the Ministers’ Wives Association.
Also present were Rev. (Rtd.) Ernest Agyei, Special Aide to the General Superintendent, and Mr Fuseini Donkor, Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations at the National Service Authority and Board Chairman of Teen Challenge of Assemblies of God, Ghana.
Rev. Wengam expressed appreciation to President Mahama for his continued association with Assemblies of God, Ghana, and for the support he and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, continued to extend to the church.
He pledged the church’s continued prayers and support for the First Family and the government.
President Mahama congratulated the newly elected leaders and commended Rev. Wengam for what he described as his visionary and bold leadership, which he said had resulted in his overwhelming endorsement for a second term.
The President also noted that Assemblies of God, Ghana, had experienced significant growth since Rev. Wengam assumed office as General Superintendent.
He expressed the hope that the church would sustain the growth and scale it up further.
Rev. Wengam was re-elected with nearly 90 per cent of the votes cast, against 10 per cent recorded by his main contender, Rev. Dr Kwame Bansah.
