Consequently, the Oti Regional Minister, Mr Joshua Makubu, has picked nomination form to contest the NPP’s upcoming parliamentary primaries in the Nkwanta South Constituency.

Some party faithful who picked the forms on behalf of the minister, said they believed in his vision to represent the people of Nkwanta South for development.

Mr Peter Ayenkeda, leader of the group, told Ghana News Agency that the minister was the best candidate to lead the party in the 2024 General Election, because of his hard work and contributions in advancing the development of the region.

The leader noted that the minister had the youth at heart and members of the group were confident that he would ‘deliver more’ when he occupies the position as a member of parliament, hence their support for him.

Mr Peter Ayenkeda appealed to all contestants to conduct their campaigns peacefully, devoid of insults, since they all belong to one NPP family.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Managing Director (MD) of the State Housing Company Limited, Ms Sheriffa Sekyere-Tijani, has also obtained forms to contest the NPP primaries in Nkwanta South constituency.

The Deputy MD, who is member of the Oti Women for NPP, was the 2020 NPP parliamentary candidate for the Nkwanta South Constituency.

Some party officials, who picked the forms on behalf of Ms Sekyere-Tijani, said she was the best candidate to unseat the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta South Constituency, Mr Geoffrey Kini, who is also the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for 2024.

Earlier, Mr Sekyi Martin, the Deputy Secretary of the NPP in Nkwanta South, told the Ghana News Agency that so far only Ms Sekyere-Tijani had picked the nomination forms, but indicated two others had also planned to contest, and that the regional minister might join the contest as nomination was still opened. —GNA
