Serene Insurance strengthens industry standing with major awards

Serene Insurance Ltd, a member of the First Sky Group, has strengthened its presence in Ghana’s general insurance sector after winning two awards at the 9th Ghana Insurance Awards held in Accra.
The company was adjudged the Indigenous Insurance Company of the Year 2025 and Promising Insurance Company of the Year 2025at the awards ceremony held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on August 22, 2026.
The awards, according to the company, recognised its strategic progress, resilience and commitment to delivering value to its customers and stakeholders.
At the 6th Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Excellence Awards, also held in Accra, Serene Insurance’s Head of Underwriting, Mrs Barbara Odoi, was adjudged the Professional Underwriter of the Year 2025.
She was recognised for her professionalism and commitment to effective risk management, speedy claims processing, proficiency and customer service.
The latest honours follow similar individual recognition at the 5th CIIG Excellence Awards, where the company’s Head of Claims, Mr Daniel Otoo, was named Claims Professional of the Year 2024.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong, also won the ultimate award, Insurance Professional of the Year 2024, at the ceremony.
Commenting on the recent achievements, Mrs Boampong said the awards demonstrated the commitment of the board, management and staff to the growth of the company.
She said Serene Insurance’s growth trajectory and the recognition it had received were unmatched among players in Ghana’s insurance sector.
“The honours are a testament to the dedication of our Board, Management, and Staff, whose collective efforts continue to strengthen the Serene Insurance brand and positions the Company for sustained growth and industry leadership,” she said.
Congratulating Mrs Odoi on her award, Mrs Boampong said it was an endorsement of the company’s approach to risk management.
“The award is a powerful endorsement of our company’s rigorous, methodical, disciplined and robust risk management regime in a very unpredictable market, which demands outstanding underwriting, the bedrock of financial stability and customer trust,” she said.
“Having the Professional Underwriter of the Year on our team sends a clear message to our partners, brokers, and shareholders that their portfolios are managed by the absolute best in the business.”
Mrs Odoi said the recognition was a reflection of teamwork and professionalism within the company.
“This acknowledgement reinforces an incredible honour that reflects the eternal impact of teamwork and strong professionalism,” she said.
She added that the award demonstrated the dedication and analytical insights of an exceptional team that continued to challenge her to improve.
“It strengthens my sense of purpose and motivates me to uphold the highest standards of insurance underwriting for the benefit of our clients and the industry,” she said.
Serene Insurance, a member of the First Sky Group, currently employs more than 97 Ghanaians and has more than 280 agents across the country.
