Steel bender gets 1 month for theft
Samuel Kobina, a 24-year-old steel bender, has been sentenced to a month imprisonment by a Cape Coast Magistrate Court for stealing a mobile phone and a wallet containing money, all valued at GH¢545.00
Kobina pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and unlawful entry, and the court presided by Mrs Gloria Mensah Bonsu, convicted him on his own plea.
Narrating the fact of the case, Sergeant Christian Antwi told the court that the complainant, Isaac Mensah, was a receptionist at Kofgan hotel and a resident of Jackson Street in Cape Coast, while Kobina lives at Djedjano.
The court heard that on Tuesday July 9, 2019, at about 2pm, Mr Mensah left his Tecno mobile phone, valued GH¢345.00, and a wallet containing GH¢ 200.00 in a drawer at the reception of the hotel, and went to the sitting room.
Sgt Antwi said Kobina broke through the sliding window and stole the phone and wallet containing the money.
Mr Mensah raised an alarm and the convict was arrested with the help of the security man at the hotel, and was handed over to police.
The wallet containing cash of GH¢200.00 and the phone were retrieved from him after a search.- GNA
