Suspected fraudsters arrested
The Kpeshie Divisional Police Command has arrested four persons for allegedly defrauding six victims who were interested in purchasing vehicles through an online market place ‘Tonaton’ platform, in Accra.
Nana Agyei Boafo, Logo Tweneboah also known as Jagua, Kingsley Oppong, and Samuel Aboagye Klutse, who are on the wanted list of the police, are said to have similar cases with several police stations within the Accra Regional Police Command.
The Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, said the suspects advertised their vehicles on the online platform with phone numbers looking for prospective buyers.
She said when the victims contacted the suspects, they lured the victims to an unknown location, where cars were parked.
DSP Effia Tenge said they all entered a building, and the buyers paid for the cars and were given fake car keys after payment.
The Police PRO said when the victims returned for the purchased cars, the cars were nowhere to be found, and when they rushed into the building where the transaction took place, the suspects were gone.
She said the suspects were arrested at different locations at Spintex and Tema.
DSP Tenge urged the public who had fallen victim to the fraudsters to report to the police.
